I think the guest speaker today was very passionate about her topic. One thing that was most memorable was the term "tech ethics". She was discussing how the big corporations constantly change their terms of service, which affects projects that use their data and API.
Her example with bots on Twitter was interesting because these bots were made for free by the users to assist the users. However, the recent change in their developer account procedure is going to kill many bots. Now any developer account on Twitter must be approved by an employee, which can take weeks to months. Also, it allows companies like Twitter to control what kind of work can be created regarding the messages they send.
I also found the facial recognition camera being racist by following black guy was interesting. It was funny how it would perfectly track his white coworker. I thought that could be attributed to lack of data and testing with faces of people of color.
